Found so(mmm)e weird

The last few posts have been pretty dire, so hoping to inject a bit of fun back in here. In my search for weird, I was thinking back to EMA’s (who ironically has written the saddest song in the world, you’ve been warned...) NewHive zine Back to the Void. Unfortunately, I discovered NewHive hasn’t existed since 2018…
Fortunately, my search led me to discover mmm.page, an amazing drag & drop site builder with a DIY community ethos. I’ve spent the last few days playing around with it and exploring other users’ sites, and it really brings back the joy of the early internet, much as Bear does!
Though some people are using mmm to create semi-professional sites and creative portfolios, there are also lots of what seem(?) like random k-pop shrines, personal profile and band sites reminiscent of myspace, school projects, post-internet art pages, froggy comics crews and even BIPOC mycologists…
Check out mmm’s explore page and dig around! And you can see what I’m working on here(this will be a constant WIP). Some pages/sites seem to be abandoned, but many new ones are being built (you can often see the process), and there's an active Discord channel, so I feel good about the platform being maintained. Leaving social media and rediscovering the smol/indie web has been genuinely hopeful and inspiring. Here’s hoping it cheers you up a bit too.
