This publication was released last month as part of Hexagram’s Living Reading Room durational installation and performance. I was invited by my colleague Sandeep Baghwati to design this bilingual newspaper edition of collected experimental performance scores. The installation created a collective space for listening and reading at UQAM, where over the course of three days, visitors and participants were invited to sit, read, and linger, while also moving through the room, responding to the textual atmosphere.

Though the design sticks closely to traditional newspaper conventions, the mixed bilingual placement was carefully considered as was the typographic mix and register: innocuous in its environment, dense, but not too dense, slightly cheeky. Readable.

Unfortunately, I was out of town during the performance, but I was happy that my design played a small role. The Living Reading Room project's engagement with attention, reading, shared presence, and the printed word echoes my own, and Matter vs. Spirit Press is pleased to informally co-publish and distribute this edition.
The newspaper includes scores en français and in english by Sandeep Baghwati, Aybüke Özel, Marie-Annick Béliveau, Valentina Plata, db boyko, Camille Renarhd, Deborah Carruthers, Evgenia Mikhaylova, and Linda Bouchard.
